About this camp

The NYU Tandon School of Engineering Machine Learning summer program introduces high school students to the foundational computer science, data analysis, mathematical techniques, and logic that drive machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI). Students engage in hands-on ML programming, data analysis techniques, and problem-solving practices. The curriculum covers core ML principles such as model development through cross-validation, linear regressions, and neural networks. Participants will develop an understanding of how logic and mathematics are applied to teach computers to perform tasks and continuously improve. The program emphasizes engineering problem-solving principles and their application to societal challenges, with lessons covering real-world applications like video and image recognition, autonomous vehicles, and diagnostic medical technologies. Students will complete daily assignments and weekly projects, culminating in a mini-group project.

What a typical day looks like

Students attend classes Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with scheduled time each day for independent or collaborative work on assignments and weekly projects.
