About this camp

The NYU Tandon Applied Research Innovations in Science and Engineering (ARISE) program is a free, 10-week summer research immersion for highly motivated New York City high school students. The program combines foundational training with hands-on lab experience, providing approximately 150 hours of valuable lab experience. Students begin with four weeks of remote workshops covering safety training, college writing, research skills, and preparation for university-level lab work. Following this, participants transition to six weeks of full-time, in-person research placements in active NYU labs, working under the guidance of faculty and graduate mentors. Students contribute to cutting-edge research across various STEM fields, develop public speaking and other soft skills, and present their research at a final colloquium and poster symposium. The program also offers group and one-on-one college application support, opportunities for continued research collaboration, and access to an alumni network.

What a typical day looks like

A typical day during the in-person lab phase involves commuting to an NYU research lab, working on a research project under the guidance of faculty or graduate mentors, and potentially participating in research workshops from 9am-4pm.
