SOMATH offers genuinely small groups (6-8 students) with consistent, experienced teachers and a focus on whiteboard-based problem-solving for real understanding.
SOMATH School of Math Summer Programs 2026 offers small-group math tracks for students in grades 1-12. The program focuses on building stronger skills and introducing new topics to ensure students gain confidence by September. Tracks include elementary fluency (Little Newtons, Kid Einsteins), middle school enrichment, SHSAT prep, pre-AP Calculus, AP Calc AB/BC review, Digital SAT math, and college math catch-up. The curriculum emphasizes problem-solving through open-ended, multi-step problems that require reasoning, rather than just execution. Students work with consistent, experienced teachers in cohorts capped at six to eight students, utilizing whiteboards for instruction to foster real understanding. The program aims to lock in previously learned concepts in June and introduce new material in July and August, preparing students for the upcoming academic year.
A typical session involves small-group, whiteboard-based instruction with a consistent teacher, focusing on problem-solving and reasoning.
This program is best for UWS families seeking a neighborhood program with experienced teachers, small group sizes, and the flexibility to accelerate learning.
