About this camp

The Columbia University Pre-College Programs - A Bridge to Higher Mathematics course offers high school students an immersive experience in theoretical mathematics beyond the standard high school curriculum. Participants will delve into topics such as logic, set theory, number theory, and combinatorics. A significant emphasis is placed on developing mathematical reasoning and proof-writing skills, including techniques like mathematical induction, direct proof, and proof by contradiction. While some applications are considered, the primary focus remains on theoretical concepts. This program is designed to equip students with the foundational mathematical skills necessary for success in higher-level university mathematics and other STEM fields.

Students will engage in rigorous academic instruction, class discussions, and individual and group projects. Upon successful completion, students receive a Columbia University Certification of Participation and a personalized evaluation letter from their instructor, which can be valuable for college applications.
