Students earn college credit for an introduction to AI and machine learning, engaging with real-life applications without advanced coding, and the program is completely free.
The City College of New York (CCNY) STEM Institute's Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning program offers high school students an introduction to AI and machine learning techniques used in the engineering field. Students will engage with real-life applications through projects, without needing advanced coding skills. The curriculum focuses on modifying parameters of instructor-provided examples to understand the mechanisms behind popular AI/ML applications. Key activities include exploring chatbots, speech recognition, language translation, character recognition, natural language processing, radar data interpretation, and biology applications. Students will gain practical experience with leading AI technologies and tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, Google Teachable Machine, Orange Data Mining, TensorFlow Playground, Hugging Face, and Kaggle. The program culminates in a guided capstone AI product where students define a problem, choose an AI approach, build a prototype, test it, document limitations, and present their work as a professional portfolio case study.
A typical day includes hands-on projects from 12:45 PM to 4:30 PM, with lunch provided free of charge from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM.
This program is ideal for high school students eager to explore the world of artificial intelligence and machine learning without needing prior advanced coding or math skills.

New York STEM Summer Camps is a free directory service that aggregates publicly available information about STEM programs, summer camps, and educational opportunities. We do not operate, sponsor, endorse, accredit, certify, or have any affiliation with the camps and programs listed here unless explicitly stated.
All program details — including pricing, session dates, instructor credentials, curriculum, safety policies, refund terms, transportation, meal arrangements, and admission requirements — are sourced from publicly available information and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Listings are partially generated and updated using automated AI-assisted research, which can occasionally produce inaccurate details. Parents and guardians are solely responsible for independently verifying every detail directly with the camp before enrolling, paying, or relying on any information shown here.
